Child’s Play
Special Gifts Theatre, is a very special place, indeed. Located in the north suburbs of Chicago, SGT provides a unique experience for children who may otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in a drama experience. For months the special ed teachers, therapists and theatre arts instructors, with the help of peer mentors, guide the two casts of children with special needs to perform in two spectacular shows. This year’s show, Beauty and the Beast, has an especially amazing actor playing the part of Chip!

our pit completed… in-ground trampoline
How in the world can you make a trampoline accessible?
Thanks to one of Meredith Sinclair’s (Hoo-dee-Hoo) tweets, I found the perfect solution in an in-ground trampoline. Didn’t take much convincing of Otis Carter (Carter Albarran Landscape Group), our amazing landscaper, to give it a try. Now, our guy with cerebral palsy can walk right out onto it & bounce to his little heart’s content.
We might be the only people here in the arctic, snowy climate of Chicago to have attempted a pit trampoline- we’ll see how it fares after a blizzard or two. For right now, it’s just a lot of fun.

Head First Studio
My friend, Richard Malstrom, has a recording studio with Pat Noyes, right here in Chicago. Musicians can rehearse, record and get help putting music together in a big loft with a huge skylight. The boys & I got to visit today, make some music & laugh a lot.
We loved the space almost as much as we love Richard-
and can you ever have too many microphones?

I LOVE summer!
No homework, sunshine all the time & kids, kids, kids. Yes, I love having those energetic, fighting, wiggling, whining, yelling, laughing, screaming, naughty children home with me. I make them go on adventures with me, and make them stay home & clean with me and we all drive each other crazy. And what a guilt-free way to avoid all that stuff I hate- bills, working out, cleaning, errands, fighting with the insurance company, and mostly the have-tos of life. I can’t possibly get to that now. The kids are home!

Go, Team GL, Go!
Mercedes-Benz is hosting a crazy twitter race that ends at the Super Bowl, and Meredith Sinclair (hoo-dee-hoo.com) & Jennie Marshall (nuckingfutsmama.com), two amazing women & friends living in Wilmette, are gunning to win. They’ll have to beat out 3 other teams by gaining points from tweets and competing in challenges along the way. THE Serena Williams, of tennis fame, is their personal Team Coach and the team is raising $$ for the Serena Williams Foundation.
The ultimate prize? They each get to take home their own all-new 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe for keeps!

So happy to say that Vintage-Twisted is now in the brick & mortar store, Renegade Handmade, here in Chicago! Renegade is a really cool shop in Wicker Park, that sells beautiful & unique handmade goods.
Vintage-Twisted at Design Harvest: Chicago
Design Harvest is a brand-spanking new festival here in Chicago, taking place October 2 & 3. This fest will feature furniture and home accessory makers, vintage and antique collectors, and retailers of the home design industry all from Chicago. Beer, wine, music all on Grand Avenue, between Damen & Wood. Best part: free admission
Vintage-Twisted furniture will be featured in the Renegade Handmade tent! Yes, I’ll be visiting the festival, but my furniture will be there for the duration, in the care of the capable & fabulous Renegade Handmade team. (Thanks, Danny!)

Renegade Craft Show-Chicago 2010
I had such a good time at the Renegade Craft Show this past weekend and met so many great people. Beer, dancing, music, sunshiney days- perfect! Hope you all had fun.
The 2 most popular pieces at the show were this much coveted sugar skull nightstand:
and this sweet little pink & green paisley bookshelf- two items that couldn’t be more different.
Thanks to Albert & Jim, the amazing guys of The Found, in the booth next to me. Not only were they so supportive to the newbie next door, but they also carry unique cards, coasters, buttons, magnets & lots more that I couldn’t live without. I’m still laughing at this card & hope to one day receive it from one of my beloved, evil friends…
